CrossFit Games 2021 is nearing and many participants are excited. Other than the traditional CrossFit Games, events for women will be held. We all know about the Reebok's equipment, Pegboard contest, cutting system, and women's event. However, we don't know much. Keep reading to find out! Don't forget the CrossFit news page to get the latest information about the competition.
Women are competing
The 2021 Crossfit Games women's competition opened this morning with a swim event. Jonne Koski, Tia-Clair Toomey Orr, and TiaClair Toomey Orr were the winners in the first event. Koski was the overall winner after keeping her lead throughout the competition. Tall finished second and Eramoo O’Connell third, respectively. It was the first Games event by women. The women's side wanted to complete the podium.
The women’s competition is populated with high-level competitors. The field comprises nine athletes, one of whom is a teenager who won the competition in Australia last summer. Kara Saunders (Australian athlete) finished second in Australia. She was also eleventh worldwide for 2020. Another rising star is Andrea Nisler, who competed in the team division in 2018 and finished third in the United States and fifteenth overall in 2020. Aside from these athletes, the Women’s competition will also include a newcomer, Sara Sigmundsdottir, an Icelandan competitor, who won first place at the World Crossfit Games earlier.
Pegboard contest
Pegboard was an original feature at Crossfit Games 2021. It was also added to the Games' Olympic summer program. Toomey-Orr won 30 of the Games' most events, setting a new record. Sager won Event 11 men's and received his third Games win. There were several tie in the contest but Toomey Orr's dominance was too strong to stop him winning.

CrossFit Games are a competition where athletes focus on ten skills that improve their physical fitness: speed, agility, cardiovascular endurance, strength and flexibility. Pegboard competition tests competitors' grip strength, coordination, and speed. A scale is used to determine the strength and coordination of competitors. The competition was fierce and the athletes felt a sense accomplishment after finishing the Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games will use a cutting system again for individual competitions. The cuts are not as severe as those used in past Games but they are still very different. Because the competition is made up of 15 events, a cut to 30 athletes after the seventh or eighth event is very likely. CrossFit must also answer the question of how it will adjust the points following cuts. The scoring table used in the 2019 games was nearly identical to the one used in 2021, so it's likely that this will continue to be the case.
The CrossFit Games' largest ever field, consisting of 236 athletes this year, is the largest ever. The six first events lead to major cuts. The field is now reduced to 75. To determine the top ten, the top 30 athletes compete in a sprint tandem. The top 20 athletes will then compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system has been criticized by veterans Games athletes who feel that the cuts are too significant.
Reebok equipment
Reebok recently announced new CrossFit Games equipment, including clothing and shoes. Nano X1 will be the new shoes. They are designed to suit multiple fitness requirements. Reebok describes this shoe as the "shoe of fitness", but it actually feels more like an ordinary training shoe. DuPont's Kevlar upper promotes breathability while ensuring durability. The firm midsole and RopePro tech enhance the responsiveness of the shoes.

CrossFit's contract with Reebok will expire at the end 2020. The Games will no longer have a title sponsor. The Games have been sponsored by Reebok for over a decade, and it's now clear that the company's involvement will be decreasing. Reebok won't be funding the Games' prize fund, but will continue making all athletic apparel and equipment worn athletes by, including the Reebok gear. The company will no more refer to itself by the name "Reebok Fitness Games", as it does right now.

You should try to ensure that you exercise most days of the week. Don't skip any sessions unless you have a valid reason for not attending.
Make sure to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for outdoor exercise. You also need to consider the weather conditions and whether they affect your ability to exercise safely.
When you exercise, drink plenty of fluids. It is best to avoid alcohol while you're exercising. Also, don't drink caffeine-rich beverages like tea, coffee, or cola. These drinks may give you energy but also dehydrate your body.

What is the main difference between Aerobic Fitness or Anaerobic Fitness
Anaerobic fitness means that our bodies can perform intense physical work with no oxygen. Anaerobic pathways are used to give our bodies enough energy to perform high-intensity exercise. Anaerobic pathways include glycolysis and creatine phosphate.
Aerobic fitness, however, refers to the continuous practice of low-intensity aerobic exercise. When doing aerobic exercises, oxygen serves as the primary source for fuel for the cells. In other words, aerobic pathways provide more energy than anaerobic.
For example, if you want to run a marathon, you must first build up your aerobic capacity. If you only focus on building up your anaerobic capacity, you won't be able to finish the race.
Aerobic fitness can also be called cardiovascular fitness. The two most commonly used methods of measuring cardiovascular fitness, are VO2 Max testing and step tests.
VO2 Max Testing
VO2 max refers to the maximum amount of oxygen (O2) used by the body during exercise. This test measures how much oxygen the body can use while exercising.
This is one of the most accurate tests to measure cardiovascular fitness. However, the test can only be administered by highly trained professionals and requires expensive equipment.
Step Tests
Step tests are simple yet effective methods of measuring cardiovascular fitness. They involve walking or jogging on a treadmill or track for a certain duration based on your age and weight.
These tests cost little, are quick and simple to do, and can be carried out almost anywhere. You can for instance walk on a treadmill 2 minutes, then stop for 1 minute. You should maintain a constant heart rate throughout the session.
This is the "Bruce Protocol". Bruce, a runner, developed this protocol after realizing that his heart rate did not rise when he ran longer distances.
